Whatever I need to buy two TRS now whereas I received 4 small XLR ahah. You may not be able to completely bypass the pres in the audiobox. Just turn them down as best you can and run through them as a Line in. Many interfaces still send some gain with the knob all the way down. The Digital MPA-II comes in a standard 2 unit space rack-mountable steel chassis, with CNC routed black anodized aluminum face panel. To reduce the risk of fire or electrical shock do not expose the unit to rain, moisture or use in damp or wet conditions.

  • Do you have a question about the ART PRO MPA II and the answer is not in the manual?
  • I've coupled this unit with an ART Pro VLA into an Apogee Ensemble into Logic X and it is really proven to be such a versatile Mic Pre .
  • This creates a wide range of new sonic possibilities with any modern or vintage condenser, ribbon or dynamic microphone.
  • Coz in the end you’re hearing the sound of your interface / converter, rather than the sound of the expensive mic pre..
  • Variable Impedance is crucial to preserve the character of ribbon and dynamic microphones.
  • This added a touch to the vocals that no plugin could match.
  • For flexible flavor, the ART Pro MPA-II features variable input impedance, so you can dial in a range of tube tones to suit your microphones.

But the octopre is the same preamp as https://newwritingcumbria.org.uk/booking-opens-for-words-by-the-water the saffire. Yep, that would work totally fine on this unit. You have four more analog line inputs on the back.

Obviously you have to consider that this is a tube preamp, so it will color your sound substantially. Now, one thing that really blew me away was when I ran a full mix through it. For lack of a better word, the sound just became real.

-10db to +36db and besides im sticking with my XLR combo input because the interface changes it to line. If so you’ll need to engage the 48v phantom power button to power up the microphone. I’ve just now realized that I also need to connect the line out from my amp to the line in on my laptop, but it doesn’t have a line in, just a mic input. I’m new to the audio world, and I’ve just bought a Behringer B1 mic, with a focusrite scartlett 2i2 amp, which I planned to use with my laptop.

Firstly, would like to shout out that I have been a big fan and trying to follow as closely as I can. And thank you, because your videos really motivated me to learn and be even more curious of the things i don’t know. I have a Saffire Pro 14, but would like to ask if you know the rear inputs 3-4 are suitable for inputs of Electric Guitar or Bass Guitar?

This is a tame filter by most standards as it's only a single pole filter (6 dB/octave) so don't hesitate to use this before you get in the box. Each channel also has four buttons in common a +20dB gain, +48V phantom power, Plate voltage, and a phase inverse button. The +20 dB gain gives you an extra boost before the signal hits the tube, allowing you to get a driven tube sound on quieter sources. The phantom power and phase invert are self-explanatory, but feel free to google them if you want to know more. The plate voltage is a great feature which changes the behaviour of the tubes, giving you a cleaner signal with a higher headroom. Center on the unit you will also find the Mid/Side Matrix button which will decode your mid/side mic setup into a stereo left and right signal.

This preamp is much better quality than those in the mixer we were using. I know there's a lot of love for this unit but in my experience it offers too little of a real improvement in the sound. If you're buying something for the tube sound, you might get a 5% improvement. I replaced the original Chinese 12AX7s with some NOS Phillips 12AU7s that really cleared up the preamp! It was a pretty good investment for the matched pair, but it really took the sound from a solid 7 to a 9. Not to mention, it was very easy to do.

Got intermittent clicks when the clock was set to the Clarett's clock. That went away when I switched to ART's clock. It's the only product I know of in that line that has the voltage switch on front. Front End Audio is an authorized dealer for all the product lines we sell. What that means for you is that anything purchased through Front End Audio is guaranteed 100% authentic gear and carries a full manufacturer’s warranty. Yes there is a learning curve to finding the "sweet spot" for the sound you like but it's worth it.

The ART Pro MPA II is durably constructed for years of heavy use in literally any recording scenario. Its front panel is made of black anodized aluminum and the unit sits in a 2u rack-mountable steel chassis. Even when you pair this amp with a cheap mic, it’ll give that warmth and that extra percent that is hard to put a finger on. Really I have nothing to say but good things about it.
